ADC Faction Plans National Convention Amid Leadership Crisis

The faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) led by Dumebi Kachikwu has announced plans to hold a national convention and has appointed interim leaders to manage the party's affairs amid a prolonged leadership crisis. This announcement was made on Tuesday in Abuja by the group's spokesperson, Norman Obinna.

The faction aims to resolve disputes that have left the party without a proper structure for almost two years. Obinna explained that earlier discussions led to an agreement to organize a national convention to elect new leadership.

The faction has accused former leadership, particularly Ralph Nwosu, of attempting to control the party and removing state chairmen who do not align with his group. Legal actions have been initiated against these moves.

The faction has distanced itself from coalitions with political figures such as David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola, asserting that the party belongs to all Nigerians, not a select group. They have called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recognize their arrangements.
