ADC Faction Schedules National Convention, Appoints Leaders

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) faction announced plans to convene a national convention and appoint interim leaders to manage party affairs amid a prolonged leadership crisis. The announcement was made on Tuesday in Abuja by faction spokesperson Norman Obinna, following a meeting of the party's National Executive Committee (NEC) that included several state chairmen and stakeholders.

The faction aims to restore order and provide direction, as previous efforts to resolve the crisis through dialogue have not been implemented, leaving the party without a functional leadership structure for nearly two years. Concerns were raised regarding actions taken by former leadership, particularly Ralph Nwosu, who allegedly attempted to control the party through individuals not registered as members.

The faction has initiated legal steps to challenge these actions and has called for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recognize the interim arrangement as a legitimate step towards restoring order. The faction reaffirmed Dumebi Kachikwu as a recognized member and expressed hope that the upcoming convention will mark a fresh start for the ADC.
