ADC Moves Forward with National Convention Plans
• Naijanews • Politics
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has announced plans to hold its national convention despite ongoing challenges, including concerns regarding the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). A 22-member national convention central coordinating committee has been appointed, chaired by former Cross River State Governor Liyel Imoke, with former Sokoto State Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal serving as vice chairman. The committee will oversee the preparations for the convention scheduled for next Tuesday. Dr. Ajuji Ahm will serve as the secretary of the committee, which will support 339 members across 11 standing committees. Key members include former Imo State Governor Emeka Ihedioha and retired Commissioner of Police Tajudeen Bakar. The ADC has expressed concerns over INEC's perceived partisanship, calling for the resignation of its chairman, asserting that INEC's actions threaten Nigeria's democratic system and aim to weaken opposition parties.
