Tinubu Approves 65 New Ambassadorial Appointments

President Bola Tinubu has approved the deployment of 65 ambassadorial appointments, which include 34 non-career and 31 career diplomats, to represent Nigeria in various countries. This decision follows nearly three months after the Senate confirmed the nominees.

The announcement was made on Friday by the President's special adviser on strategic communications, Bayo Onanuga. Notable non-career appointments include Femi Fani-Kayode as ambassador to Germany, Reno Omokri to Mexico, and Abdulrahman Dambazau to China.

Other significant appointments include Jimoh Ibrahim as Nigeria's permanent representative to the United Nations and Ita Enang to South Africa. The list also features several career diplomats assigned to countries such as Algeria, Ghana, and Ethiopia.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been directed to commence the induction program for the ambassadors-designate. This move aims to enhance Nigeria's diplomatic missions, which have been operating without substantial ambassadorial appointments for several years.
