ADC Slams Senate Over Electoral Act Changes, Calls Them APC's 'Rigging Blueprint'

The African Democrat Congress (ADC) has strongly condemned the 10th Senate, led by the APC, for rejecting crucial electoral reforms aimed at enhancing the credibility and efficiency of future elections in Nigeria. In a statement by the party's Public Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC described the Senate's actions as a deliberate attempt to undermine Nigeria's democracy.

Specifically, the Senate's refusal to approve electronic transmission of election results and the provision allowing electronic download of voter cards were criticized by the ADC. The party expressed concerns that these decisions could reduce election notice periods and potentially impact the transparency and fairness of elections in 2023.

The ADC called for a conference committee on the Electoral Act to overturn the Senate's decisions and ensure that any amendments reflect democratic principles for the benefit of the Nigerian people.
