Okpebholo Condemns Attacks on ADC Members in Edo State

Governor Mondai Okpebholo of Edo State issued a firm condemnation of recent assaults on members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), attributing these incidents to escalating internal party conflicts. In a statement released on Tuesday, he expressed sympathy for the affected ADC members and noted regret that certain individuals are allegedly exploiting Edo State's peaceful environment to incite violence.

The governor emphasized the importance of peace and love among citizens, categorically condemning the involvement of thugs and miscreants from outside the state in political activities. He asserted that the primary aim of the attacks appears to be discrediting Edo State and undermining its reputation as a peaceful region in Nigeria.

Okpebholo reaffirmed his administration's commitment to safeguarding lives and property, urging the police and security agencies to remain vigilant and monitor political gatherings to prevent escalation. He called on residents to maintain calm and uphold peace, warning that the incidents should not tarnish the state's image.
