Adeyanju Warns Against Plot to Deregister ADC Ahead of 2027

Adeyanju warned that this move poses a serious threat to Nigeria's democracy, as it seeks to undermine political competition and weaken democratic values in the country.

He condemned the efforts to remove credible opposition ahead of the elections, emphasizing that a healthy democracy relies on strong political competition and the presence of credible alternatives for voters. Adeyanju noted that the electoral decisions should remain in the hands of the people and cautioned against creating an uneven political environment that could weaken electoral cycles.

He also highlighted that the actions perceived as suppressing opposition could damage Nigeria's international reputation and investor confidence. Adeyanju insisted that the legal registration of political parties is a constitutional right and called for the protection of Nigeria's democratic space.
