ADC Condemns Violent Attack on Rivers State Secretariat

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has condemned a violent attack on its secretariat located in Ubima, Rivers State, which occurred on Thursday night. The attack, attributed to political thugs loyal to the ruling party, involved setting the ADC secretariat ablaze and firing heavy weapons in the area.

This incident took place ahead of a scheduled visit by a former governor of Rivers State, raising concerns about the safety of opposition parties. In a statement posted on Friday, the ADC described the attack as a direct assault on democracy and a violation of the constitutional rights of Nigerians.

The party emphasized that such acts of violence are part of a broader pattern of intimidation against political opponents. The ADC warned that it would not allow its members to become victims of political thuggery and reaffirmed its commitment to peaceful political engagement, stating that it will not be intimidated by these criminal acts.
