ICPC Arrests El-Rufai's Doctor Over Alleged False Statements

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) announced the arrest of Professor Bello Abubakar, the personal physician of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, on allegations of making false statements during an investigation. The ICPC's spokesperson, Mr.

Okor Odei, stated that the arrest followed preliminary findings that suggested the medical visit granted to El-Rufai was allegedly misused for purposes beyond the court's approval. El-Rufai had been admitted to the private wing of a national hospital in Abuja on July 7, under security arrangements sanctioned by the Kaduna State High Court, to receive medical attention.

However, concerns arose regarding the nature of the visit, as photographs shared by Rt. Hon.

Isa Ashiru Kudan indicated that the meeting involved activities outside the approved medical scope. The ICPC emphasized that the physician's actions constituted a violation of court orders, leading to his arrest.

El-Rufai is currently facing nine counts of corruption charges filed by the ICPC, which he denies, claiming they are politically motivated.
