ADC Criticizes Wike, APC Ahead of FCT Elections

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) issued a statement on Monday, addressing comments made by Minister Wike and the All Progressives Congress (APC) regarding the upcoming Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Council elections scheduled for February 21, 2026. The ADC described Wike's remarks as irresponsible and dangerous, insisting that they do not prevent Nigerians from freely deciding their votes.

The party highlighted the troubling nature of such comments, especially during a time when the country is grappling with economic hardship, insecurity, and political tension. The ADC reminded President Bola Tinubu and the APC that attempts to intimidate or pressure voters reflect a disconnect between the government and its citizens.

The statement emphasized that the February 21 elections should reflect the genuine choice of voters and that democracy should not be undermined by intimidation or political pressure.
