ADC Confirms Amaechi as VP Candidate for 2027 Elections

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has addressed concerns regarding the nomination of Rotimi Amaechi as the vice presidential candidate to Atiku Abubakar for the 2027 general elections. Bolaji Abdullahi, the party's national publicity secretary, stated that there is no crisis within the party related to this nomination.

He emphasized that Amaechi is not obligated to publicly announce his acceptance of the nomination alongside the presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar. Abdullahi responded to questions about the controversy surrounding Amaechi's candidacy, asserting that the party followed due process in the nomination.

He noted that Amaechi's formal unveiling as the vice presidential candidate would occur at a later date, and he maintained that the official campaign season has not yet commenced. Abdullahi also mentioned that Amaechi is among several aspirants contesting in the ADC presidential primaries, which have faced some rejection of Atiku Abubakar's candidacy.
