ADC Urges Tinubu to Expand Oriire Rescue Strategy

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has called on President Bola Tinubu to extend the security strategy that successfully rescued abducted pupils and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State to other regions facing similar kidnapping issues, particularly in Kwara, Borno, and other states. In a statement by National Publicity Secretary Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC praised the operation but questioned why the same approach had not been utilized for other victims still in captivity.

President Tinubu, during a meeting with traditional rulers from Oyo State, revealed that his administration opted for intelligence-led operations over negotiations with kidnappers. Abdullahi emphasized that while the Oriire rescue was commendable, it raised concerns about the government's capacity to act similarly in other cases.

The ADC highlighted the ongoing uncertainty faced by families in Kwara, Borno, and other states, urging the President to demonstrate the same resolve in rescuing all victims of kidnapping.
