ADC Youth Wing Demands INEC Leadership Restoration

The youth wing of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has given the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) a 72-hour ultimatum to restore the party's leadership recognition, warning of potential nationwide civic actions if their demands are not met. During a press conference at the party's national headquarters in Abuja on Monday, ADC National Youth Leader Rufa accused INEC of acting outside its constitutional mandate, which he claims undermines democratic institutions.

The leadership crisis within the ADC stems from a national executive committee meeting held on July 29, 2025, which led to the dissolution of its national working committee and the election of new leadership under former Senate President David Mark. Rufa stated that despite a court appeal directing INEC to maintain the last uncontested position, the electoral body has ignored the order.

The youth wing is calling for an investigation into INEC's actions and possible sanctions, including the removal of the INEC chairman. They urge President Bola Tinubu to avoid actions that could weaken opposition parties and warn of peaceful demonstrations if their demands are not complied with within the stipulated timeframe.
