Adebayo Declared SDP Presidential Candidate for 2027

Adebayo has been declared the unopposed presidential candidate for the Social Democratic Party (SDP) for the 2027 general elections after a primary held at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium. In his acceptance speech delivered on Saturday, Adebayo highlighted the hardships faced by Nigerians, including insecurity, unemployment, and poverty, attributing these issues to poor leadership.

He criticized the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), for suppressing internal democracy and attempting to weaken opposition parties. Adebayo commended Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed for allowing the convention to proceed peacefully despite political pressures.

He vowed that the SDP would contest the 2027 presidential election with a focus on providing people-oriented leadership, tackling poverty, and strengthening democratic institutions. Adebayo urged Nigerians to support multiparty democracy and warned against increasing attempts to stifle opposition voices in the country.
