Adeboye Encourages Super Eagles to Build on Victory

Hon. Adeyinka Anthony Adeboye, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Grassroots Sports Development, called on the Super Eagles to capitalize on their opening 2-1 victory over Madagascar in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign. The match took place at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, where debutants George Ilenikhena and Moses Usor scored the goals.

Adeboye acknowledged the importance of the victory but stressed the need for improved performance against Guinea-Bissau. He praised the young players for their contributions and highlighted the significance of their immediate impact on the team.

Adeboye also congratulated Moses Simon for reaching 100 appearances for Nigeria, noting the balance between experience and youth in the national team. He warned against underestimating any opponent, emphasizing the competitiveness of African football and the importance of maintaining confidence and discipline.

Adeboye concluded that winning the first match is crucial for building momentum in the qualification journey.
