Afaramai Brothers Shine at Sapetro Futures Tennis Championship

The Sapetro Futures Tennis Championship concluded with the Afaramai family from Nasarawa achieving remarkable success, as brothers Heman and Godwin secured two of the three available boys' titles. Heman, the top seed in the Boys 16s, faced a tough semifinal against Garuba Taiwo from Ogun State, winning in a final set tiebreaker.

In the final, he faced Dami Agunbiade from the Calabar Sports Club, who retired while trailing 1-5 due to stomach discomfort. Godwin, competing in the Boys 12s, overcame Ademola Adejumobi from Ogun State in a closely contested final, winning 10-8 in the final set tiebreaker.

The championship also featured other notable matches, including Friday Testimony defeating Adesina Alaba from Oyo State in the Boys 12s. In the girls' categories, Amira Mohammed won the Girls 12s title, while Anu Odebode claimed the Girls 14s title and Adeshewa Olaniyan won the Girls 16s title.

Heman Afaramai and Anu Odebode were awarded the most outstanding players of the tournament. The event was attended by dignitaries including Engr Emeke Anagbogu, the Managing Director of South Atlantic Petroleum, and Mr Akinlolu Akinyele, the Managing Director and CEO of Industrial and General.
