Edo Queens Qualify for CAF Women’s Champions League

Edo Queens secured their qualification for the CAF Women’s Champions League by defeating Ghanaian champions Ampem Darkoa 4-1 on penalties in the WAFU-B Women’s tournament final held in Burkina Faso on Saturday. The Deputy Governor of Edo State, Dennis Idahosa, described this achievement as remarkable, emphasizing that it positions Edo State at the forefront of women’s football in Nigeria and West Africa.

In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Friday Aghedo, on Sunday in Benin, Idahosa congratulated the players and technical crew for their resilience and determination. He also acknowledged Governor Monday Okpebholo for his administration's investment in sports development and the enabling environment created for athletes.

Idahosa praised the Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, Hon. Amadin Enabulele, for his leadership and support in developing sports in the state. He expressed pride in the team's success, viewing it as a significant moment for Nigerian women’s football and an opportunity to compete at the continental level.
