Governor Adeleke Launches Weekly Sanitation in Osun State

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has approved a two-hour weekly environmental sanitation exercise across the state, commencing on Thursday. This initiative, announced by Samuel Aina, the Head of Service and Chairman of the Osun State Environmental Sanitation Task Force, mandates that all offices, market operators, shop owners, artisans, malls, stores, and other business operators be physically present during the sanitation period.
The exercise will take place from 8 am to 10 am. Law enforcement agents will be deployed to support the task force, but their role will be to enforce compliance rather than make arrests.
The initiative aims to address issues of indiscriminate refuse disposal and violations of environmental regulations to prevent disease outbreaks and maintain cleanliness throughout Osun State. Additionally, Adewale Egbedun, the Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, has directed the Ministry of Environment to clear refuse heaps and blocked drainages across the state.
