Adeleke's Second Term: Focus on Industrialization and Power

Adetayo Adegbemle, Executive Director and Convener of PowerUp Nigeria, emphasized that Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke's second term should prioritize sharper industrialization and the operationalization of the Osun Electricity Law. Adegbemle noted that Adeleke's first term focused on infrastructure, education, and grassroots welfare.

He argued that Osun has underperformed industrially despite its strategic location and large youth population. He proposed fast-tracking agro-processing clusters and converting underused industrial layouts in Osogbo, Ede, and Ikirun into functioning industrial parks.

He stressed that industrialization requires reliable power, making the operationalization of the Osun Electricity Law crucial. This law, passed in 2025, allows the state to establish its regulatory agency and attract independent power producers.

Adegbemle called for the appointment and funding of the State Electricity Regulatory Commission to ensure accountability in power delivery. He concluded that Adeleke's victory margin of 66,000 votes should not lead to complacency but rather a commitment to creating jobs and improving power access.
