Adeleke Revives Safe School Initiative After Oyo Kidnappings

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has directed the immediate revitalization of the Safe School Initiative in response to recent kidnappings in neighboring Oyo State. This directive was communicated through a statement issued on Sunday by his spokesperson, Olawal Rashe.

Governor Adeleke has instructed the Ministry of Education and relevant security agencies to strengthen precautionary measures against potential attacks in Osun State. He emphasized the need for enhanced intelligence gathering, particularly around schools located in border areas and remote sections of the state.

The directive follows an attack on Friday in Oyo State, where three schools in the Oriire Local Government Area were targeted, resulting in the abduction of at least 45 pupils. The affected schools included Baptist Nursery and Primary School, Yawota Community Grammar School, and Ahorosinel L Primary School.

The governor assured parents and school authorities of the safety of their children and called for the implementation of new security measures to protect students across the school system.
