Adeleke Thanks Tinubu After Winning Osun Governorship

Ademola Adeleke, the Governor of Osun State, expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu following his victory in the state governorship election, as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday. Adeleke, who won a second term, noted that Tinubu personally called to congratulate him.

He thanked the President for his role in supporting democracy in Nigeria, stating, “Mr President has called me and he has congratulated me, thank you Mr President for making sure democracy lives on because you fought for it.” Although Adeleke contested the election under the Accord Party, he has publicly supported Tinubu’s bid for re-election in 2027, citing the interests of Osun State and the South-West region. On July, the Accord Party's leadership formally adopted Tinubu as their preferred presidential candidate.

Adeleke had previously endorsed Tinubu on May 25, 2026, during an inspection of the Ibadan-Ile Ife-Ilesa Expressway, referring to Tinubu as “our own son, father and leader.”.
