Adeleke's Victory Reflects Good Governance, Atoyebi Says

Bamidele Atoyebi, the convener of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Ideological Group and a political analyst, commented on the recent Osun State governorship election, attributing Governor Ademola Adeleke's victory to effective governance and grassroots acceptance. Atoyebi congratulated Adeleke and indicated that the outcome serves as a lesson for the All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders in Osun State.

He emphasized that voters in Osun have consistently supported incumbent governors and their associated parties when they perceive good governance. Atoyebi noted the historical rivalry between Adeleke and former Governor Gboyega Oyetola, highlighting that Adeleke won the governorship elections in both 2018 and 2022.

He pointed out that Adeleke had also secured votes for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during the presidential and National Assembly elections, despite President Bola Ahmed Tinubu being a fellow Yoruba from the South-West. Atoyebi concluded that Osun voters prioritize their immediate political interests and the performance of their governor over ethnic or presidential ties.
