Adepoju Advocates for Iheanacho's Super Eagles Return

Mutiu Adepoju, a former Nigerian international, has expressed his support for Kelechi Iheanacho's return to the Super Eagles, highlighting the striker's resurgence in form at Celtic despite facing injury setbacks. Iheanacho joined Celtic in the summer and has had his season disrupted by recurring hamstring issues, limiting his game time to 18 appearances, during which he scored six goals and provided one assist.

His recent performances, particularly a decisive display in the Scottish Cup semi-final against St. Mirren where he scored twice in extra time, have reignited discussions about his place in the national team.

Adepoju believes that Iheanacho's qualities and experience make him a valuable asset, noting that his current form warrants a recall. He emphasized the importance of experience within the national team setup and expressed confidence in Iheanacho's ability to maintain his performance level.

Iheanacho has earned 58 caps for Nigeria and is expected to be crucial for head coach Eric Chell as the team prepares to defend their title at the 2025 United Cup against Portugal and Poland in June.
