Presidential Aide Accuses Adeniyi of Fraud Scheme

Temitop Ajayi, a senior special assistant to the president on media and public affairs, accused Matthew Adeniyi of manipulating the narrative of corruption to involve Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila in a multi-billion naira fraud investigation. Ajayi stated that Adeniyi operated a fictitious presidential agency for months without detection, maintaining 34 bank accounts under the names of non-existent government bodies and opening fraudulent accounts at the Central Bank of Nigeria.

He urged security agencies to dismantle the criminal network that enabled Adeniyi's actions. Ajayi emphasized that the system's failure allowed such elaborate fraud schemes to thrive, and he called for accountability among those involved.

Adeniyi faces eight criminal charges in a federal high court, with his arrest occurring on October 27, 2025. Femi Falana, a human rights lawyer, has challenged the president's actions regarding Adeniyi's case.
