Yemisi Opawoye Claims 4th Place in Osun Election Results

Yemisi Opawoye, the Action Democratic Party (ADP) candidate in the Osun State governorship election held on Saturday, disputed media reports that stated she finished sixth. In a statement from Osogbo, Opawoye asserted that the official result sheet from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) indicated she placed fourth with 2,946 votes, as per the INEC Form EC8E – Declaration of Result.

She attached a copy of this form, signed by the State Returning Officer, Prof Joshua Ogunwole, which detailed the votes of all 15 candidates. Opawoye emphasized the need for accurate reporting following what she termed an error in the media regarding her ranking.

She provided the correct ranking of the top candidates: 1st - Accord with 511,067 votes, 2nd - APC with 444,815 votes, 3rd - ADC with 17,180 votes, 4th - ADP (Opawoye) with 2,946 votes, 5th - ZLP with 2,482 votes, and 6th - AA with 2,308 votes. She called on journalists and stakeholders to refer to the official INEC results for clarity.
