Ireti Kingibe Aduda, a former Senate minority leader, has officially resigned from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and has held a closed-door meeting with the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentaw Yilwatda. Aduda submitted his resignation letter on March 17, 2026, addressed to the PDP chairman of Karu Ward in Abuja, citing persistent internal crises within the PDP as the reason for his departure, although he did not explicitly name the issues.

His move to the APC appears to confirm speculations regarding his political future, especially as he has been seen working closely with the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, in various unofficial capacities. Sources suggest that Wike may have influenced Aduda's decision to join the APC, where he is expected to run for a Senate position in the 2027 general elections.
