Afaramai and Samuel Triumph at CBN Junior Tennis Championship

Eman Afaramai from Ikeja Police College Tennis Club and Gloria Samuel from Lekmak Tennis Academy in Ado Ekiti emerged as champions in the boys' and girls' 16 titles at the 2026 CBN Junior Tennis Championship, which concluded at Ikoyi Club on Saturday. Afaramai, the number one seed, began the tournament with confidence and faced his biggest challenge in the final against Damilola Agunbiad from Calabar Sport Club.

After a tough match that saw Afaramai trail 6-7 in a pro set, he rallied to win the next two games, securing his victory. Samuel showcased her dominance throughout the tournament, losing only two games in three round-robin matches and defeating Favour Jame from Uyo-based Geuf Tennis Academy 9-2 in the final.

The competition featured various age groups, with notable performances from other players, including Alaba Adesina and Gideon Peter. The tournament also introduced awards for outstanding coaches and parents, recognizing their support in nurturing young talents.
