Senegal Coach Thiaw Appeals for Donations to Cover AFCON 2025 Sanction

Senegal's head coach, Pape Thiaw, has reached out to Senegal fans, requesting donations to help cover the AFCON 2025 sanction imposed by the Confederation of African Football (CAF). Following a five-game ban and a $100,000 fine for unsporting behavior during the AFCON 2025 final against Morocco, Thiaw appealed for support to address the disciplinary action.

The sanction stemmed from Thiaw instructing his players to leave the field in protest of a late referee call during the final, which eventually led to Senegal winning in extra time. Thiaw expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support received but urged fans to discontinue fundraising efforts in his name and instead channel their generosity towards more deserving causes.

The coach emphasized the need to redirect support to those in real need.
