Super Eagles Depart for Guinea-Bissau AFCON Qualifier

The Super Eagles are set to leave Uyo for Guinea-Bissau on September 29, 2026, as they prepare for their second Group L fixture in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign. Head coach Éric Chelle has scheduled a closed-door training session at 10 am on Sunday before the team departs at 3 pm.

The squad is coming off a 2-1 victory against Madagascar, where they initially trailed after Ehsan Kari's goal but rallied back with goals from debutants George Ilenikhena and Moses Usor. Ilenikhena equalized in first-half stoppage time, while Usor scored the winning goal in the second half.

The starting lineup against Madagascar included Stanley Nwabali, Ola Aina, Semi Ajayi, Calvin Bassey, and Bruno Onyemaechi in defense, with Wilfred Ndidi and Alex Iwobi in midfield. Chelle has several attacking options for the upcoming match, including Ilenikhena, Usor, and Taiwo Awoniyi, who replaced the injured Victor Osimhen.
