Morocco's AFCON Hosting Generated $2 Billion for Economy

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) President Patrice Motsepe announced that Morocco generated approximately $2 billion for its economy while hosting the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). Speaking at the Africa Forward Summit in Kenya, Motsepe emphasized the tournament's massive global impact, noting it attracted 2.5 billion television viewers worldwide and recorded 6.2 billion digital interactions across various platforms in 118 countries.

He highlighted the significant economic impact of the tournament on Morocco, which included boosts in tourism, hospitality, and commercial activities. Motsepe also praised Morocco's historic performance at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, where the Atlas Lions became the first African nation to reach the semi-finals, making the entire African continent proud and demonstrating the growing strength of African football on the global stage.
