AfDB, FG, UN Women Launch Gender Roadmap for Nigeria

On June 24, the African Development Bank (AfDB), the Federal Government of Nigeria, and UN Women launched a gender profile and roadmap designed to promote gender equality and inclusive growth in Nigeria. This initiative aims to advance Nigeria's development agenda by fostering coordinated action among government, development partners, the private sector, and civil society.

The gender profile roadmap will provide tailored evidence of gender disparities across key sectors, including the economy, education, health, and governance. It is structured to address issues such as gender-based violence through a dual approach framework.

The report aligns with Nigeria's national development plan for 2026-2030, embedding gender equality policies and investment priorities. Imaan Sulaiman Ibrahim, the Nigerian Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, underscored the importance of collective action for sustainable implementation, asserting that gender equality is non-negotiable.
