AFN Achieves Major Successes Against Terrorism in July

In July, the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) recorded significant operational successes, as reported by Major General Michael Onoja, the Director of Defence Media Operations. The operations aimed to protect lives and Nigeria's territorial integrity, resulting in the neutralization of 54 terrorists, the arrest of 102 suspects, and the rescue of 102 kidnapped victims in the North-East, particularly in Borno, Yobe, Adamawa, and Bauchi states.

A key achievement was the elimination of Abu Salim al-Barnawi, a senior ISWAP commander. In the North-West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA rescued 191 kidnapped victims, neutralized 33 terrorists, and arrested 66 suspects across Kaduna, Katsina, Zamfara, and Kebbi states.

Notably, Dr. Aminu Yusuf, the Rector of Federal Polytechnic Kaura Namoda, was rescued during anti-kidnapping operations.

In the North-Central region, combined operations led to the rescue of numerous victims and the neutralization of criminal elements, including a notorious terrorist kingpin known as Puuga in Benue State.
