Nigerian Army Rescues 777 Victims, Neutralizes 1,487 Terrorists

From July to the first week of September, the Nigerian Army recorded substantial operational gains, including the rescue of 777 kidnapped victims and the neutralization of 1,487 terrorists. Notable operations included the rescue of 11 kidnapped persons and the arrest of 21 suspects in July, and a joint operation around Kainji Lake National Park that rescued 308 individuals.

On August 31, 21 abducted persons, including 15 National Youth Service Corps members, were rescued in Kogi State. This operation involved troops from the Nigerian Army’s 12 Brigade, alongside other security agencies and local vigilante groups.

The Nigerian Army also recovered an RPG launcher, an AK-47 rifle, and 793 rounds of ammunition in Kaduna. Under the leadership of Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, who became Chief of Army Staff in October 2025, the Army has focused on operational readiness and joint operations, which have been pivotal in addressing Nigeria's evolving security challenges.
