Nigeria's Security Forces Neutralize 1,614 Terrorists

Between July and August, Nigeria's security agencies killed 1,614 terrorists, arrested 1,688 suspects, and rescued 1,160 abducted victims, as reported in a monthly security briefing coordinated by the Office of the National Security Adviser. Major-General Samaila Uba, Director of Defence Information, stated that the Armed Forces conducted 7,062 operations nationwide, resulting in the deaths of 1,487 terrorists and insurgents, the arrest of 354 suspects, and the rescue of 777 kidnapped victims.

Operations spanned all six geopolitical zones and included various tactics against criminal elements. The Armed Forces recovered 91 firearms, 1,331 rounds of ammunition, and 44 improvised explosive devices.

Additionally, the Nigeria Police Force arrested 1,334 suspects and rescued 383 victims, recovering 175 firearms and 3,790 rounds of ammunition. The operations led to 93 security personnel casualties and 249 verified civilian casualties, with no major incidents reported regarding border security or infrastructure threats.
