Afreximbank, TopTier Sports Plan 2026 Legends Match

The African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank), through its Creative Africa Nexus (CANEX) programme, and TopTier Sports Management—What Media Group, held a press conference in Lagos to unveil plans for a Legends Football Match scheduled for November 8, 2026, at Onikan Stadium. This match is a key event for the CANEX WKND 2026 programme and will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the mid-1990s Super Eagles squad, honoring their achievements, including the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations victory, the 1994 FIFA World Cup run, and the 1996 Olympic Gold medal.

Temwa Gondwe, Director of Creatives and Diaspora at Afreximbank, emphasized the global impact of the 1996 team, while Chichi Nwoko, Founder and CEO of TopTier Sports Management, highlighted the importance of supporting African athletes. The event aims to stimulate economic activity and position Lagos as a hub for Africa’s creative industries, showcasing the links between sports, entertainment, and the creative sectors.
