Africa Scrabble Championship 2026 in Liberia Offers Record $35,000 Prize Money

The Pan African Scrabble Association has revealed that the 16th Africa Scrabble Championship, scheduled to take place from October 21-25, 2026, in Monrovia, Liberia, will offer a record prize purse of $35,000. The event will be hosted at the Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Ministerial Complex on Tubman Boulevard.

This championship marks the first time Liberia will host the flagship event, which has been held biennially for three decades. The prize structure has been revised, with the eventual champion set to receive $10,000, representing a 100% increase from the previous top prize.

The runner-up will earn $5,000, while the third, fourth, and fifth-place finishers will receive $3,500, $3,000, and $2,250, respectively. The top 20 finishers will also receive cash rewards, making this edition of the championship the most lucrative in its history.
