Youth Leadership Highlighted at AU Conference in Accra

The fifth edition of the Yale Model African Union (YMAU) conference concluded successfully in Accra, Ghana, from March 13-15, 2026, bringing together 300 delegates, including policymakers, industry leaders, and entrepreneurs from across Africa and the diaspora. The theme of the conference was "Imagining Challenges to Build the Africa We Want," marking a milestone in fostering youth leadership and policy engagement across the continent.

Denni Sampong, the Country Director of Fludor Ghana, a subsidiary of TGI Group, highlighted the urgent need to integrate youth into the cocoa value chain and emphasized the importance of private sector participation in shaping policy outcomes. He pointed out that the average age of cocoa farmers in Ghana is between 55 and 60 years, stressing the necessity to attract young people to agriculture through modern technology and training programs.

Sampong concluded that the future of Africa lies in the hands of its youth, urging them to take charge of their future.
