Adeleke Initiates Political Reconciliation in Osun State

On Friday, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke began a reconciliation initiative aimed at healing political divisions in the state after the August 15 governorship election. Engaging with former governors, including Chief Bisi Akande, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, Rauf Aregbesola, and Gboyega Oyetola, Adeleke emphasized the importance of restoring political dialogue.

His outreach coincided with the 35th anniversary of Osun State, where he sought support from political stakeholders for a broader reconciliation process. Despite reaching out to Bola Oyebamiji, the APC governorship candidate in the last election, neither Oyetola nor Oyebamiji responded at the time of the report.

Adeleke stated that the conclusion of the election should mark the beginning of a healing process, prioritizing governance over electoral rivalry. He linked his initiative to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's appeal for peace-building in Osun, aiming to create an environment where political differences are managed through dialogue for the benefit of the people.
