Tinubu Seeks Senate Confirmation for Former Governor as Ambassador

Nigerian politician Bola Tinubu has requested the Nigerian Senate to confirm the nomination of former Kebbi State Governor, Saidu Dakingari, as a non-career ambassador to Turkey. This request was made during a plenary session presided over by Godswil Akpabio.

The State House had initially announced Dakingari's nomination in January 2026, but it was later withdrawn. Tinubu's spokesperson clarified that Dakingari's name was not on the initial ambassadorial list sent to the Senate.

Tinubu has had three ambassadorial nominees confirmed by the Senate previously, including Ayodel Ok for France, Lateef (Rtd) for the United States, and Aminu Dalhatu for the United Kingdom.
