D’Tigers' Agada Calls for Improvement Ahead of Cape Verde Clash

Caleb Agada, point guard for D’Tigers, admitted that Nigeria was not at their best during their 82-79 defeat to South Sudan, emphasizing the need for improvement as they strive to keep their 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup qualification hopes alive. This loss marked Nigeria's second consecutive defeat in the current qualifying window, following a 78-62 loss to Cameroon.

Agada noted that the team struggled to maintain the necessary energy and intensity, particularly as South Sudan took an early lead and held on for victory. Despite the defeat, Agada praised South Sudan's performance and acknowledged the challenges posed by Cameroon.

Nigeria's Chima Moneke led the scoring with 16 points, while Chimezie Metu and Josh Okogie contributed 17 and 14 points, respectively. With a record of 4-4, D’Tigers are currently fifth in Group E, where the top two teams qualify for the World Cup.

They face Cape Verde, who are sixth with a 3-5 record, in a crucial match on Sunday.
