D’Tigers Defeat Cape Verde 100-84, Boost World Cup Hopes

D’Tigers secured a significant 100-84 victory over Cape Verde in the final game of the fourth window of the 2027 FIBA World Cup African Qualifiers, held at the Salle Multidisciplinaire de Radès in Radès, Tunisia. This win revitalized Nigeria's chances of qualifying for the World Cup in Qatar.

Caleb Agada was the standout performer, scoring 26 points on 9-of-12 shooting, including 8-of-11 from three-point range, in just under 24 minutes. Nigeria dominated the game from the start, leading 9-0 and finishing the first quarter at 23-9.

They maintained a strong lead, going into halftime at 52-35 and concluding the third quarter at 76-54. Josh Okogie contributed significantly with 15 points, eight rebounds, 10 assists, and four steals, achieving a game-high +28 plus/minus.

Chimezie Metu added 12 rebounds and six points. This victory followed two earlier defeats against Cameroon and South Sudan, keeping Nigeria in contention for a World Cup spot ahead of the final qualifying window in February/March 2027.
