NYSC Akwa Ibom Calls for Urgent Camp Renovation

Rosemary Akuagbaogu, the Akwa Ibom State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has expressed serious concerns regarding the dilapidated state of the NYSC orientation camp located in Nsit Atai Local Government Area. During a ceremony for the 2026 Batch Stream II corps members, she described the camp's facilities as deplorable, highlighting issues such as leaking roofs, collapsed ceilings, broken doors, and torn mosquito nets.

Akuagbaogu called on Governor Umo Eno to intervene urgently and rehabilitate the camp to safeguard the welfare of corps members deployed to the state. She noted that the rainy season has exacerbated the camp's conditions, which have become a serious concern for accommodating a large number of corps members.

The governor had previously pledged to renovate the camp facilities, but the situation remains critical. Akuagbaogu also acknowledged the governor's welfare package for corps members and encouraged them to leverage skill acquisition programs to become job creators.
