NYSC Camp in Oyo Faces Water and Power Shortages

Corp members undergoing the mandatory three-week National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation exercise in Oyo State have expressed significant concerns regarding erratic power supply and water scarcity at the camp located in Iseyin. Members reported that they sometimes attend official programs without the opportunity to bathe due to inconsistent water supply, which has made maintaining proper hygiene particularly challenging, especially for female corp members.

Anonymity was requested by the corp members due to fears of victimization, as NYSC officials warned against posting complaints on social media. Kayod Peter, the Oyo State NYSC coordinator, acknowledged the issues of erratic electricity supply but insisted that measures are in place to ensure adequate water provision within the camp.

Despite this, corp members described the situation as deteriorating and expressed hope that NYSC management would address these challenges.
