Dispatch Rider Killed in Lagos Truck Accident

A tragic road accident on Otedola Bridge in Lagos State resulted in the death of a dispatch rider after a collision with a heavy-duty Volvo truck. The incident occurred along the Ogudu Toll Gate corridor, as confirmed by Adebayo Taofiq, spokesperson for the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA).

The impact was severe, leading to the immediate death of the rider at the scene. This incident marks the second fatality involving dispatch riders in less than 24 hours in the same area, raising significant concerns about their safety on major highways.

LASTMA officials promptly responded to the scene, securing the area to prevent further accidents due to high traffic volume. The deceased was respectfully handed over to the Federal Road Safety Corps personnel present at the scene.

Traffic management operations were initiated to restore normal flow after the accident caused heavy congestion extending toward Berger Axis. LASTMA's General Manager, Olalekan Bakar, expressed condolences to the family of the deceased and emphasized the need for strict adherence to traffic regulations to improve road safety.
