Dispatch Rider Dies in Lagos Crash with Heavy Truck

A tragic accident occurred in Lagos State when a dispatch rider lost his life in a collision with a heavy-duty Volvo truck on Otedola Bridge, heading towards the Secretariat along the Ogudu Toll Gate corridor. The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) confirmed the incident in a statement issued on Tuesday by Mr.

Adebayo Taofiq, Director of Public Affairs. The crash took place less than 24 hours after a similar incident, raising concerns about the safety of dispatch riders on major highways.

LASTMA officials, who were on routine patrol, responded swiftly to the scene, securing the area and coordinating with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to manage the situation. Despite their efforts, the incident caused significant traffic congestion, stretching back towards Berger Axis.

LASTMA's General Manager, Mr. Olalekan Bakar Oki, expressed condolences to the deceased's family and emphasized the need for stricter adherence to traffic regulations and greater caution among road users.
