On Tuesday, Agbese, the deputy spokesperson for the Ado/Okpokwu/Ogbadibo Federal Constituency, clarified his political ambitions following his recent defection from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Labour Party. He stated that his decision was motivated by a desire to continue serving his constituency and to prepare for future political engagements.

Agbese dismissed speculation linking his political move to a potential governorship bid in Benue State, pledging loyalty to Georg Akum, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, whom he described as a key supporter in his political journey. His defection comes amid a growing crisis within the APC in Benue State, largely stemming from a political rift involving the state governor, Hyacinth Alia.
