Agege LG Chairman Obasa Elected YELO Continental VP

Abdul Ganiyu Vinod Obasa, the Chairman of Agege Local Government, has emerged as the Continental Vice President of the YELO Network Africa. His election took place in Nouakchott, Mauritania, concluding yesterday, following a strategic engagement among young elected local government leaders across Africa.

Obasa will also continue to hold the position of West African President within the organization. His election is part of a broader initiative discussed at the YELO summit held in Dakhla, Morocco, which focused on youth inclusion in governance, leadership development, and strengthening local government institutions across African cities.

As one of Nigeria's youngest local government chairmen, Obasa's leadership at both the regional and continental levels is seen as a significant endorsement of youth-driven governance in Nigeria and its growing influence in Africa's local government diplomacy. He has pledged to work closely with regional leaders to deepen cooperation among African local governments and emphasize the importance of translating policy dialogue into practical reforms to improve service delivery and strengthen democratic participation.
