Egunjobi and Yusuf Expelled from APC Amid Political Turmoil

Chief Ganiyu Egunjobi, former Agege Local Government Chairman, and Azeez Yusuf have been expelled from the All Progressives Congress (APC) by the Lagos State chapter, which accused them of anti-party activities and disloyalty. The expulsion was announced on a Wednesday and signed by state chairman Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, pursuant to Article 9(5)(II) of the APC Constitution, as amended in 2022.

Both Egunjobi and Yusuf had previously sought the APC’s tickets for Agege Constituencies I and II but were not selected, with Gbenga Abiola and Sakiru Enimakure recognized as the party’s candidates. Instead of withdrawing from politics, they joined the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).

The APC's decision to expel them was a response to their actions of contesting under another party. Egunjobi and Yusuf claimed they had resigned from the APC in July before the expulsion announcement, arguing that one cannot expel those who have already left.

They distanced themselves from Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker Mudashiru Obasa, asserting their decision was independent and based on grievances regarding the nomination process.
