Egunjobi and Yusuf Reject APC Expulsion, Cite Resignation

Chief Ganiyu Kola Egunjobi and Barrister Azeez Yusuf have dismissed their expulsion from the All Progressives Congress (APC) by the Lagos State chapter, labeling the decision as belated and politically unnecessary. They stated they resigned their APC membership in July 2026 and joined the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) weeks before the APC announced their expulsion on September 23.

In a joint statement, they emphasized that their resignation had been publicly communicated and questioned the rationale behind the expulsion after their departure. Egunjobi and Yusuf cited unresolved grievances regarding the party's primary elections, claiming they won in their constituencies but were denied candidacy.

They attempted to resolve these issues internally without success. They characterized the expulsion as an attempt to distort their political history and raised concerns about internal democracy within the party.

They expressed no regret over their decision to leave the APC and defended their move to the APM, noting that political party movement is common in Nigerian politics.
