Kaleyewa House: Honoring Dr. Olukemi Adamolekun's Legacy

Dr (Mrs) Olukemi Celina Adamolekun, who held a Master’s in guidance & counselling and a PhD in the same field awarded in 1992, founded Kaleyewa House in October 2001. This non-profit organization was established to support the elderly in Nigeria, addressing their needs for food, medical care, and housing.

Her initiative was informed by a baseline study conducted in 2001 in Iju and Itaogoblu of Akure North LGA, Ondo State. Tragically, Olukemi was murdered on May 4, 2002, while on Kaleyewa House business.

Her family continued her vision, with the first outreach occurring in August 2003. Kaleyewa House aimed to build a volunteering culture and influence government policy regarding elder care.

Olukemi's contributions earned her two posthumous awards in 2005 and 2010, recognizing her impact on the community. In November 2023, Kaleyewa House celebrated its ongoing mission to support the elderly.
